If you got your hands on a Foolish Mix CD then read on for the tracklisting! I crammed 19 tracks into this 42 minutes set, from Old Skool Jungle to brandnew Baltimore Funk and Dubstep.
It all started with a dog eared and dusty 12″ remix of the Stone Roses classic ‘Fools Gold’ by A Guy Called Gerald. That’s why it’s the ‘Foolish Mix’, by the way.
Nostalgia got the better of me and I kept digging through some old boxes of 90’s records, unearthing nuggets like General Levy’s Jungle tune ‘Schemin’ and the B-15 Project’s sublime Two Step dedication to ‘Girls Like Us’.
I do like mixing the oldies with some fresh flavours, so you get some bangers by Skream and Kode 9 as well as cheesy Baltimore Funk courtesy of Diplo. It’s actually Skream’s recent ode to Two Step, ‘One For The Heads Who Remember’, that got me looking for my old records from London in the first place.
R.E.S.P.E.C.T. to the Old Skool, as Manchester’s Pendle Coven put it on their mad cut-up that graces this mix as well.
