Get a free MP3 of the Indie anthem for this Summer, the glorious ‘Doomsday Devices’ by New York act Golden Bloom. This is no hype, by the way, just pure quality.
Golden Bloom is the project of New York singer-songwriter Shawn Fogel. ‘Doomsday Devices’ features a smashing Indie Rock hook and some ominous lyrics. “Most of the songs I’ve written in the past stemmed from personal relationships and existed very much in my head,” says Shawn. “These new songs are different [...] They’re less about what’s going on in my head and more about what’s going on in our country and our planet.’
‘Doomsday Devices’ was produced by Peter Katis, who previously worked with The National and Interpol. Katis gives the song a big, stadium ripe sound without over egging it. The track is taken from Golden Bloom’s upcoming album ‘Fan The Flames’, which is due to be released in August. Shawn has released a couple of albums and EPs since 2004 but it looks like he’s found his style for good with ‘Doomsday’.
Outside his solo work, Shawn also plays bass with New York band the LeeVees. LeeVee’s drummer Michael Azerrad, a former Rolling Stone editor and author of Nirvana biography ‘Come As You Are’, and keyboard player Dan Saks are part of Golden Bloom’s live line up.
