2562 ‘Aerial’

A rare beast of an album that lets you unwind after a night on the dancefloor and gets you in the mood to get up and do it again. The sparse but engaging tracks make both possible.

If you are looking for the perfect beat, you have come to the right place. Armed with laptop and samples, Dutch artist Dave Huismans from The Hague, aka 2562, manages to sound like a good Jazz drummer who oscillates between loose and tight patterns yet keeps the groove rolling. Elastic, trance like rhythms with a metallic edge.

You can zone out and listen to ‘Aerial’ as a chill out album or you can zone in and get locked into the groove. 2562 has pared down his tracks to the barest minimum. Drum patterns distinguish one track from the next, bass lines provide melody and a bare shimmer of synths and effects sets the mood.

‘Aerial’ follows a string of 12″ singles, including the massive ‘Kameleon’, on the Bristol-based Tectonic label which caught the attention of the Dubstep scene. It’s good to see that 2562 has still got that many aces up his sleeve. Keep the drums rolling.

Listen to the tracks ‘Kameleon’ and ‘Channel Two’ on iTunes. You can download both tracks from the iTunes Store.
