Low Motion Disco ‘Keep It Slow’

If you are looking for a classic Chill Out album in the vein of the Cafe Del Mar compilations, then check out Low Motion Disco. Like the name suggests, this is music for lazy summer evenings.

There is a particular brand of electronic music that suggests classy lounge bars and evenings spent watching the sunset on an Ibiza terrace. Done badly, this style of music can be excruciatingly boring. Every so often, an artist just gets it right. Swiss duo Low Motion Disco inject enough ideas into their music to keep you listening for the album’s length.

The sample-heavy, downbeat ‘Keep It Slow’ is close in mood to Chris Coco’s classic 2002 album ‘Next Wave’. With a stretch of the imagination you could also compare LMD to UK chill artists Lemon Jelly.

The hits here are ‘Low In The City’ and the opener ‘Born On The Low Wind’. The gentle guitar work on the album’s opener reminds me of Coco’s cover version of ‘Albatros’ with the addition of a flock of sheep baah-ing away over the music. Gone are the illusions of sitting on a sunny terrace in the Balearics, this is more like standing in the drizzle at a Welsh rave.

Check it out. Worth a listen, and not just for that sheep track.

Listen to Low Motion Disco’s ‘Keep It Slow’ and download it from iTunes.
