Do The Post Funk With Débruit

Let’s Post Funk! Take some smooth R&B, ruffle up the beats and add some outlandish synthesiser melodies. When it sounds like Prince on horse tranquilisers, you got gourmet Post Funk.

It sounds weird, but it is highly addictive party music. Play some Post Funk at home and watch your friends getting drawn into the groove. First heads start nodding, then shoulders start moving and soon enough booties will be swaying.

Bearded French geezer Débruit is the top geezer in the Post Funk game. He has released three 12″ EPs so far ‘Coupe Décale’, ‘Clé De Bras’ and most recently ‘Let’s Post Funk’. ‘Clé De Bras’ already pretty much defines the Post Funk sound, but it really comes together in a big way on ‘Let’s Post Funk’.

On ‘Let’s Post Funk’, Débruit teams up with US hip hop producer Om’mas Keith - the man behind the huge Post Funk tune ‘Wind It Up’ - to deliver two outstanding songs.

‘Soles Sweat’ on the B-side is a bit easier to get into with its straight Miami booty bass and vocals not straying too far from the R&B track. The A-side ‘I’m Goin Wit You’ features Om’Mas Keith on vocals, who sounds nuttier than psychedelic 70’s funkateer Bootsy Collins but smooth enough to melt peanut butter. Two killer tracks for all who like their operators smooth as Isaac Hayes or Snoop Dogg.
